Irwin is originally from Southern California. He attended UCSB and met Salli (the co-owner) there. He also did graduate work at the University of Tennesee and is proud to be a Volunteer. He worked as an audiologist for six years at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philidelphia. Irwin and Salli opened the first Occhiali in January 1988. He loves being back in Santa Barbara. When not at work, one will probably find Irwin golfing.
Salli is co-owner of Occhiali with her husband, Irwin. They met at UCSB and after living on the east coast for a few years, returned to Santa Barbara, opened Occhiali and have happily become a part of the community; making lifelong friends, and raising their two children. Salli is also the performing arts teacher at Anacapa School.
Loren has been with Occhiali since 2004 and began managing our downtown location in 2009. Loren grew up in Goleta and graduated from Dos Pueblos High, has a film degree from San Francisco State, and studied Speech and Hearing at Portland State. Loren returned to Santa Barbara to be part of the Occhiali family. In his off time you can probably find him out surfing Rincon with friends.
Though native to South Pasadena, Amber has lived in Santa Barbara since 2013, when she left home to attend UCSB. It was there she studied biopsychology and developed her interest in visual perception and optics. Since 2016 she has worked as an optician, marrying her fashion sense with the science and function of eyewear. Outside of work, Amber has varied hobbies including crafting, gardening, and cooking. She is an elated member of the Occhiali family.
Terri is the 3rd sister to work for Occhiali. She and her husband Doug were born and raised in Santa Barbara. They have raised two children and are now enjoying their first grandchild. Terri and her father are craft artists of Native American beadwork and basket weaving and they show their art at various art shows.
Lucy is originally from Los Angeles, and moved to Santa Barbara to attend UCSB where she started her journey as an optician working at the Eye Clinic. Since graduation she has continued working in the optical field and is excited to be part of the Occhiali team. She now happily resides in Carpinteria with her partner Alejandro and her two boys, Alexander and Anthony.
OVER 30 YEARS EXPERIENCE
Pamela was born and raised in Santa Barbara, and now lives in Ventura. She has worked at Occhiali since October 1994. In her spare time she loves to spend time with her family and go on hikes. She has a blended family of 9 children and 5 grandchildren, and has celebrated 10 years of marriage to Vincent this past April 2014. She enjoys working with her sisters Terri and Lisa at the Montecito store.
Lisa and her husband, Thomas, live in Goleta. They enjoy the outdoors, especially camping at the beach. They have two grown children that have gone on to marry and bless Lisa and her husband with grandchildren. Lisa and Thomas love being grandparents! Lisa has worked at Occhiali since 1998, and enjoys working with her two sisters, Terry & Pamela.
Erin has worked for Occhiali since 2002, but has been an optician since 1994, working for both eye doctors and high-end boutiques. She has been enjoying working on her new home in Oak View with her husband Rich. She also enjoys volunteering at the Ojai animal shelter, practicing yoga, and spoiling her Australian Shepard, Riley.
With over 12 years experience in local retail and hospitality, Suzi is one of our newest budding Opticians. She attended Santa Barbara High School as a VADA (Visual Arts and Design Academy) graduate and continued her education at Santa Barbara Community College. When she isn't taking PD's at Occhiali, you'll find her chasing after her two little kids on Hot Springs hiking trail or at the beach watching her husband surf.
Yvonne is a native of Santa Barbara and has lived here with the exception of 15 months, when she attended the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. She met Salli and Irwin in 1988 and 5 years later she was working at Occhiali. You can find her at the Santa Barbara store on most Thursdays. She loves to travel and looks forward to going back to Japan, Italy, and France, and to seeing new places
Samantha grew up in Santa Barbara and returned to the West Coast after receiving a BFA in Drama from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. In addition to working at Occhiali, she bakes and delivers cupcakes as the aproned force behind Violette Bakeshop and is the founder and artistic director of Out of the Box Theatre Company, a Santa Barbara community theatre company focused on contemporary musical theatre.
